How To Get To Karystos

The distance from Athens International Airport (ATH) to Karystos, Greece is approximately 170 kilometers. Here are the transportation options available to reach Karystos from Athens International Airport:

  • Ferry: From the port of Rafina, one can take the Evia Star ferry to the port of Marmari, which takes 1 hour. From Marmari port there is a bus service that takes you to the centre of Karystos in approximately 15 mins. Ferry times vary every week, so please check the latest timetable / schedule from the ferry ticket office or ferry company.


  • Bus: There is a direct bus service from Athens International Airport to Karystos, operated by KTEL Evia. The journey takes approximately 3 hours, and tickets can be purchased from the bus terminal at the airport or online. There is also a bus service that can take you from the airport, to the port of Rafina which takes 25 minutes.


  • Private transfer: A private transfer service can also be arranged in advance, offering a convenient and comfortable way to reach Karystos. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, and the driver will pick you up at the airport and take you directly to your hotel in Karystos. There is also the option for the driver to take the car on the ferry which will be much quicker, around 1 hour (excludes ferry tickets).


Regardless of the transportation option you choose, it's important to plan ahead and make arrangements in advance, especially during peak travel seasons.
